Spring Break! St. Louis Day 1

            I was so lucky to be able to spend part of my spring break with my good friend from camp, JC.  JC and I lived in the same cabin my first summer at Camp Robindel.  It's so hard being such great friends with other camp counselors, because the probability they live halfway across the country (or world) is pretty high.

             However!  We were able to have a great long weekend in St. Louis together.  She and her boyfriend, Dave, showed me all the great tourist sights, and quite a few good places to get a drink.

             The first day on our adventure in the city together, we started by going the "World's Fair Donuts," which is the CUTEST little donut shop. JC got a donut named "Angel Kiss" which was essentially like a ho-ho but even better.  I ended up getting three donuts (I just couldn't help myself) and an ice cold orange juice.  The shop was a cash only shop where there were three workers, all of whom looked like they were veterans of working at the shop. :)  After we grabbed our donuts, we walked across the street to Gringo Jones, which is essentially like an old antiquey-thrifty-junky shop.  We were taken quite aback when we realized there were dogs and cats just roaming around the shop.  Needless to say, they were very interested in our donuts.

             After we ate our donuts and perused around the goody shop of Gringo Jones, we headed to the St. Louis City Museum.  It was quite overwhelming when we first got there, but after no time we were climbing all around on the adult jungle gym.  What is so unique about the City Museum is that everything is made out of things that people recycled....even planes!  It was so fun to be kids for a few hours and climb around/through/over (and just about every other preposition) all the sculptures.

            After the City Museum, we headed over to Blue City Deli and got some grub.  We both got delicious sandwiches (I opted for the St. Louis Primo solely based upon the name).  I also tried some AMAZING schlafly ("superfly") micro-brewed beer from St. Louis.  To follow the deli, we decided on going to the Anheuser-Busch brewery (how could we not?).  We took a brewery tour where we got to sample some of the beer during, and after the tour.

              After the trip to the brewery we were both spent and decided to head back home.  There we ordered the BEST St. Louis style pizza from Cecil Whittakers (with full bacon slices on it) and some provel cheese.
